Undergraduate Teaching

Lecturer and course co-coordinator, Microbiology and Immunology 2500A/B: Biology of Infection and Immunity

This introductory course (~300-450 students each term) covers introductory immunology and provides the fundamentals of both bacteriology and virology with an emphasis on human infections and mechanisms of pathogenesis, as well as a number of selected topic lectures (e.g. Prions). Dr. McCormick teaches the bacteriology section and includes topics such as antibiotic resistance, bacterial meningitis, tuberculosis, Lyme disease, streptococcal and staphylococcal infections, and the Black Death.

Supervisor, Microbiology and Immunology 4970E: Research Project and Seminar

This course provides mentorship and training to students in our Honor’s program and allows them to undertake hypothesis driven and original bench research. In our lab research is focused on bacterial pathogenesis, structural immunology, and cancer immunotherapy. Our team has supervised numerous Honor’s students over the last decade, many of them earning co-authored publications for their hard work and effort. Our trainees have gone on to a range of positions following graduation including graduate school, medicine, dentistry, as well as industry positions.
